The sound of tiles shuffling, the quiet concentration, the growing excitement, and a burst of laughter — mahjong has filled our home for as long as I can remember.
 

As the child of Chinese immigrants, I grew up knowing that my parents’ childhoods were very different from mine, worlds I could never fully know.  But this centuries-old game helped bridge that gap, giving me a window into their lives and a deeper connection to where they came from.  It also taught me that, at its core, mahjong is about more than winning – although of course, winning is great too!  It’s about spending time together, building friendships, sharing stories and creating memories. That's the kind of fun we're all better for.
